Eden Park’s Grand Hall

Technology Makeover

Much like the All Blacks, Vidcom and Eden Park share a history of great success, although Vidcom's achievements lie in delivering premium audio-visual solutions rather than Rugby Championships! As Eden Park's trusted audio-visual supplier for over a decade, Vidcom embarked on a significant equipment upgrade project late last year to enhance the value and experience for clients and guests.

    Challenge

For over a decade, Vidcom has proudly served as Eden Park’s preferred audio-visual partner, consistently seeking opportunities to elevate the venue's technological capabilities. Recognising the need to update and enhance the Grand Hall - a premier space which can comfortably host a banquet function for 700 people - Vidcom proactively initiated a major technology upgrade. The goal was to replace the aging PDP video walls with four 5m x 3m LED walls, significantly improving the visual experience for event attendees.

This ambitious project came with its own set of challenges. The Grand Hall's busy event schedule imposed a tight deadline, requiring a seamless transition that would not interfere with ongoing operations. Despite these constraints, Vidcom was committed to delivering an upgrade that would transform the space, ensuring that the Grand Hall continued to meet the high expectations of its guests and clients.

    Solution

Collaborating closely with Eden Park’s technology partner Samsung, Vidcom orchestrated the decommissioning of the old video walls and the installation of new 5m x 3m LED 2.5mm pixel pitch displays. The upgrade was not just about enhancing visual appeal; it also aimed at reducing the venue's carbon footprint, aligning with the sustainability goals of both Eden Park and Vidcom. The project required meticulous planning, with significant contributions from the Eden Park Facilities team and Tristate, along with a high level of expertise to ensure its successful completion.

    Outcome

The installation of the new LED walls in the Grand Hall has resulted in a significant enhancement of the venue's visual experience. With a small 2.5mm pixel pitch, zero bezels, and accurate, dynamic colour reproduction, the screens offer superior image quality and impressive viewing angles, making them a perfect fit for the space. Additionally, the new technology effectively reduces the carbon footprint, aligning seamlessly with the sustainability goals of both Eden Park and Vidcom. The decommissioned PDP monitors have also been repurposed, extending their lifespan and minimising waste.

Grand Hall Eden Park

Eden Park is extremely appreciative of its longstanding partnership with Vidcom. Our brands share a mutual goal of enriching the event and function experience, and we are delighted with the innovative technology they have introduced at the stadium. The new LED wall, installed in collaboration with our icon partner, Samsung, is just another example of how Vidcom continues to set the benchmark for premium audio-visual solutions.
